THE PROJECT

TWO FACTS

The idea behind the project stems from two facts:

  1. According to European regulations, the deployment of renewable energies has to be framed within the Taxonomy Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2020/852). This Regulation establishes that an economic activity is environmentally sustainable, if:
    • It contributes substantially to one or more of the environmental objectives set out in that Regulation, including climate change mitigation and adaptation.
    • Does not cause significant damage to the environmental objectives set out in Article 9 of the Regulation, including the protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems.
  2. Scientists and citizens’ associations have expressed their concern about the way in which the energy transition is being carried out in our country.

Ambiosolar aims to assess whether the deployment of solar photovoltaic energy complies with the Taxonomy Regulation.

That is, whether such a deployment can be considered as an environmentally sustainable activity.
